Fiat Chrysler Vehicle recall
Fiat Chrysler Recalls 1.3 Million Vehicles Due to Fire and Airbag Hazards
July 18, 2017
Automaker Fiat Chrysler issued two separate recalls that, together, affect about 1.34 million vehicles: one concerning fire risks from worn alternators, and the other concerning faulty wiring that may improperly deploy airbags.
The alternator recall affects certain models and model-years of the Chrysler 300, the Dodge Charger, the Dodge Challenger, the Dodge Durango, and the Jeep Grand Cherokee. Vehicles across North America are affected by the recall.
Two accidents but no injuries have been reported in connection with the alternator issue.
The company has also issued an airbag-related recall for certain models of the Dodge Journey and the Fiat Freemont. In these cases, faulty wiring may short-circuit the airbag deployment device, causing it to misfire.
Five minor injuries but no accidents have been reported in connection with the airbag issue.
Fiat Chrysler will complete all repairs at no charge to the vehicles’ owners.
