Jessica Alba’s Honest Co Pays $1.55 Million to Settle False Advertising Lawsuit
June 13, 2017
From the Irony Desk:
Honest Co, the online merchant cofounded by actress Jessica Alba, has agreed to pay $1.55 million to settle allegations of false advertising.
At issue in the Multi-District Litigation (MDL) case was the fact that Honest sold products containing the skin irritant sodium lauryl sulfate, an ingredient the company had expressly vowed to avoid in the “gentle” products it sells. Sodium lauryl sulfate was found in several products sold by Honest Co, including laundry detergent and dish soap.
Honest has agreed to reformulate its products.
Consumers may seek refunds of up to $50 form Honest’s website. In settling the cases, the company denies wrongdoing.
