Medical Device and Bad drug recall list for the week of may 15-21, 2017

The week of May 15, 2017, saw recalls of ceramic travel mugs, chalk note mugs, a plush toy, a kite, a coffee press and a bicycle.

Michaels recalled a ceramic travel mug due to a burn hazard. The mug’s lid does not fit securely and can cause liquids to leak from the bottom of the lid when tilted, posing a burn hazard. Also, the mug does not have a silicone hand wrap so the consumer could burn their hand on the side walls of the mug. About 27,000 mugs were sold.

Pier 1 Imports recalled a Chalk Note mug due to burn hazard. The mugs can crack when filled with hot liquid, posing a burn hazard to users. About 15,300 mugs were sold 15,300 (in addition, about 900 were sold in Canada).

Douglas recalled a plush toy due to a choking hazard. The plastic eyes on the plush toys can detach, posing a choking hazard. About 25,000 toys were sold.

VanMoof recalled bicycles due to fall and impact hazards. The front fender bolts do not break when an object gets stuck between the front tire and the front fender/mud guard, posing fall and impact hazards. About 375 defective bicycles were sold.

Cabrinha recalled Kiteboard control systems due to injury and fall hazards. The point of connection between the lower front line with the landing line can break, causing a loss of kite control, posing injury and fall hazards. About 2,900 kites were sold.

Bradshaw International recalled coffee presses due to laceration hazard. The glass beakers can break during normal use, posing a laceration hazard to users. About 85,000 unites were sold (in addition, 300 were sold in Canada)
