Product recall list for the week of June 26-July 2, 2017

Product Recalls

For the week of June 26-July 2, 2017, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recalls of several consumer products, including fireworks, two items of furniture, light fixtures, and children’s clothing.

Fireworks Recall

Just in time for the Fourth of July, fireworks maker TNT Fireworks has recalled more than 36,000 packages of its Red, White, & Blue Smoke fireworks. The fireworks can explode unexpectedly after being lit. Customers may visit www.tntfireworks.com to obtain a full refund.

And let’s be careful this holiday weekend when playing with explosives, OK, folks?

5-Drawer Chest Recall

Furniture manufacturer South Shore has expanded the recall of its 5-drawer chest of drawers units. In January, the company recalled 3500 of the units; this week, South Shore recalled an additional 68,300. If the units are not anchored to a wall, they pose serious tip-over hazards and entrapment hazards for small children. Customers should discontinue using the products immediately, and visit www.southshorefurniture.com for a refund or a free tip-over restraint kit.

TV Chest Recall

Another furniture maker, Homestar North America, has recalled about 1500 of its three-drawer TV chests. These units, too, pose tip-over and entrapment hazards. Customers should discontinue using the products immediately, and visit www.homestarna.com for a refund or a free tip-over restraint kit.

Home Depot Vanity fixture Recall

Electrical products manufacturer Design Solutions, in coordination with the hardware store chain Home Depot, has issued a recall for about 64,000 of its Home Decorators 3- and 4-light Comotti vanity fixtures. The shades on the lights can detach, thereby posing laceration and burn hazards. Consumers may visit www.dsilighting.com to obtain free replacement light shades.

Infant Coverall Recall

Home goods and personal care products manufacturer Burt’s Bees has recalled some 8500 units of its infant coveralls (as well as another 44 that were sold in Canada). One of the snaps on the coveralls is prone to detachment, which poses a choking hazard. Consumers should stop using the product immediately, and visit www.burtsbeesbaby.com to obtain a pre-paid envelope that will allow the buyer to exchange the clothing for a $20 e-gift card.
