Product recall list for the week of September 25 -October 1, 2017

Product Recall

For the week of September 25 – October 1, 2017, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recalls of several consumer products, including a stroller, a grill, and an item of exercise equipment.

Delta Jogging stroller Recall

Stroller manufacturer Delta has recalled some 28,000 of its “J for Jeep” jogging strollers, as the leg brackets on the devices can break, thus posing a fall hazard for any infant riding in the stroller. Consumers are advised to stop using the strollers immediately, and to contact Delta at recall@deltachildren.com to arrange for a free repair.

Pro-tec helmet Recall

Sporting goods manufacturer Pro-Tec has recalled 4600 of its multisport helmets because the helmets’ buckles fail to meet federal safety standards. The helmets thus pose a risk of head injury. Consumers should stop using the helmets immediate and return them to Pro-Tec for a full refund. Information is available at www.protecbrand.com.

Saber gas grill & propane regulator Recall

Grill manufacturer Saber has issued a recall of about 19,000 of its gas grills and about 3000 of the liquid propane (LP) regulators that are a key component of the grills. (An additional 7700 grills and 500 regulators have been recalled in Canada.) The LP regulators can allow gas to flow at a higher pressure than is safe, which can result in gas leaks and/or flame bursts, which in turn pose serious fire and burn hazards. Consumers are advised to stop using the grills and regulators immediately, and to contact Saber at www.sabergrills.com for a free repair kit. Repair instructions are available in a video that is viewable at www.sabergrills.com/Support/SafetyBulletins.aspx.

Dick's sporting goods fitness gear resistance tube Recall

Dick’s Sporting Goods has issued a major recall of more than 200,000 of its Fitness Gear resistance tubes workout equipment. The rubber tubing in the devices can break while in use, posing a “snap-back” injury hazard to users. Consumers should stop using the devices immediately and return them to any Dick’s store. More information is available at www.dickssportinggoods.com.

Skip Hop soother Recall

Finally this week, children’s toy and products manufacturer Skip Hop has recalled 130,000 of its “Moonlight & Melodies nightlight soothers.” (An additional 21,500 of the devices have been recalled in Canada.) The devices’ USB wall power adapters can break, thereby posing an electrical shock hazard. Consumers should stop using the devices immediately, and contact Skip Hop at www.skiphoprecall.com for instructions on returning the devices and receiving a free repair kit.
